Falling UP 1.0
The 'Falling UP into a Redemptive Community' exhibition, or Falling UP 1.0 as it is now retrospectively known, took place at the Fire Station Creative in Dunfermline in 2016. This was the first iteration of Dr Drew Walker's Falling UP exhibition advocacy project on the theme of art, mental illness and recovery. During this stage of the Falling UP exhibition series, Falling UP served as part of Dr Walker's PhD methodology in his doctoral research into the renowned House of Artists at Gugging in Austria. Falling UP 1.0 was the first stage of trialling 'Living in Art', one of the two key processes of Gugging, which is experienced daily by residents of the House of Artist whilst they make their art, as their lifestyles and daily routines. Some Falling UP artworks from this exhibition carried over to subsequent exhibitions and became legacy pieces. They were recontextualised in new environments, juxtaposed with new artworks as more artist collaborators worked with Dr Walker.
